Royal Edinburgh Community Gardens’ Big Lunch 2018

COMMUNITY EVENT OPEN TO ALL

The Cyrenians are hosting the Royal Edinburgh Community Gardens’ Big Lunch 2018 on Sunday 3rd June 2018.

The event will be a relaxed, informal get-together for staff, service users and volunteers of various charities to promote the community and the public.

The event will be bring & buy and the plan is to have a wide variety of food and refreshments. If you are able to bring along some homemade cooking or cakes, that is brilliant, though you should not feel like it’s a requirement.

If you’d like to come along, please keep a few things in mind:

  • The RECG is a working garden, and the event will take place outside. Dress practically and keep an eye on the weather forecast; shelters will be provided in the event of poor weather.
  • This is a public event in a busy psychiatric hospital. There will be a lot of other people coming and going.
  • If you are bringing food, please bring a list of ingredients so we can accommodate guests with dietary requirements.
  • The event will be alcohol free.

The event will be open from 12-5pm and lunch will be from 2-3pm, though if people could come early and stay late to enjoy the activities on offer, that would be wonderful!

Directions for traveling to the Royal Edinburgh Community Gardens

If arriving by car, please park on Morningside Road/surrounding roads and allow 10 minutes to walk to the Gardens.

Coming from Morningside Road, walk through the hospital campus. On your way you will pass the glasshouses on your right, and the Young Persons Unit on your right. Just before the Orchard Clinic there is a roundabout; turn left at this and come down to the Gardens which are just past the ‘Hive’ (an old tin church) and opposite the Jardine Clinic.

Keep an eye out for our signs directing you to the Gardens.

See you soon!
