Carers Week 2024

Canal Boat Trip - Friday 14 June

Carers Week this year is from 10th-16th June.

We are pleased that this year, we have booked a Canal Boat Trip from Polwarth!

When: Friday 14th June, 10:30am-12:30pm
Where: The trip will start at Polwarth Pontoon behind Polwarth Parish Church at 36-38 Polwarth Terrace. The boat then turns at the Slateford Aqueduct and the Lochrin Quay.

Trips typically take 2 hours and can accommodate up to 12 passengers. We will have teas, coffees, biscuits, scones and cakes.

Regrettably, the wheelchair lift is in need of repair and is therefore out of order - unfortunately this means that the boat is not wheelchair accessible. Please also note that the pontoon is unstable and does move underfoot.

If you have any queries or would like to book your place, please let us know by emailing Rachael at - as soon as you can (as spaces are limited and will operate on a first come, first served basis). If you have any dietary requirements, please include this information.

We are looking forward to hopefully seeing you there!

How do you look after your own mental health and wellbeing?

As part of Carers Week, are hoping to hear from you on how you manage to look after your own mental health and wellbeing.

We understand that making time for yourselves can be difficult when you are juggling your own life and your caring responsibilities. If you can find the time, it often feels challenging to focus on yourself. We thought it might be a good idea to hear from you as unpaid carers on if you are able to make time for yourselves, how you do this and what types of support/activities you find beneficial for your own mental health and wellbeing. Do you have any hints and tips for other carers that help you take some time out and to keep going? Any responses we receive will be gathered to be shared with other carers on our mailing list, ECC website, and Facebook page. All responses will be anonymous and no names or identifying information will be included.
If you would like to take part and share some tips on how you care for your own wellbeing, please do let us know!
